Mike Newport -- Director, District 10 (Pontotoc & Seminole)

John Michael Newport received a B.S. in Animal Science from OSU in 1978. In 1991 Mike received a MBA from Oklahoma City University. Mike is owner and agent of Newport Insurance Agency, Inc in Stonewall. He is a licensed Insurance Agent in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. He is an active leader in his community through many leadership programs such as Pontotoc County Skill Development Center, programs and activities to promote and educate ranchers on the Beef referendum of the National Beef Check-Off, American Heart Association. He established a Newport Insurance Agency Scholarship Fund for high school seniors from Stonewall that have been active in FFA and desire to continue their college education. He is also a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma and Ada and is a charter class member of Oklahoma Agriculture Leadership Program. Mike is active in Oklahoma and National Cattlemen’s Association, Oklahoma 4-H Foundation Board, Pontotoc County Junior Livestock Board and Pontotoc County Beef Producers. Mike and his wife, Melinda, have been married twenty-one years and have two sons, Caleb, 15 years and Joshua, 13 years. Melinda is a registered/licensed dietitian and has worked in public health nutrition and or private consulting for 18 years. His family is very active in First Baptist Church, Stonewall where he serves as a deacon and Sunday school teacher of sixth grade boys and his wife teaches “Parenting by Grace” among other activities. His family has been involved in farming/ranching for four generations and has been in the oil industry for most of his life. Mike is a life member of the Alumni Association.
