A brighter orange is driving into the state of Texas in the form of a new Oklahoma State University license plate that will be offered by myplates.com and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.

The OSU plate is a reality after years of hard work by the OSU Alumni Association to recognize 30,000 alumni in the state of Texas.

“Our OSU license plate in Oklahoma has been a tremendous success,” says Larry Shell, OSU Alumni Association President. “We’re excited to offer our Texas alumni this new opportunity to show their affinity for OSU and support their alma mater.”

The plate will feature OSU’s mascot Pistol Pete on the left side with Oklahoma State on the bottom and Texas on the top – both in OSU orange. Standard and personalized OSU plates will be available.

As is the case in Oklahoma, a portion of the proceeds from each OSU plate purchased in Texas will be returned to OSU to support student scholarships.

“It’s a win-win for our alumni in Texas,” Shell says. “They can give back to OSU by purchasing an OSU license plate and share their orange pride in the Lone Star state.”

The plates are expected to be released in May with a purchase price of $55 per year or less than $30 per year when purchased for a ten-year term. They will be available online at myplates.com.

“We are excited to partner with the OSU Alumni Association to offer this plate to alumni in Texas,” says Steve Farrar, president of myplates.com. “Without their support, this opportunity would not have been possible.”
