From rural Zimbabwe to Stillwater, Oklahoma, OSU alumna Tererai Trent's story of perseverance and courage was one that neither the New York Times or Oprah could pass up.

Trent received a bachelor of science in agricultural education in 2000 and a master of science in plant pathology in 2003 from OSU. This December, she will receive a doctoral degree from Western Michigan University.

She was recently featured by New York Times Op-Ed Columnist Nicholas Kristof in a story titled "Triumph of a Dreamer" - click here to read it.

Trent currently resides in Michigan with her children and new husband, Mark Trent, whom she met while attending OSU. In addition to attaining her doctoral degree, she is also working with Heifer International, the organization that first assisted her in coming to the United States.
