Life Members Opening Orange Doors

The OSU Alumni Association is excited to announce a new and powerful benefit to life members. The Orange Door Business Network, which was launched in 2011 to promote OSU-friendly businesses, has been redeveloped from a business membership to a benefit for life members.

Orange Door is an online business listing searchable by both business type and location. From its inception, the search function of the network has been open to anyone looking to find a product or service from businesses owned by or employing OSU graduates. With this recent redevelopment, the search function remains open to everyone and life members now have the option to list their own business in the network and promote it for free to more than 200,000 living OSU alumni.

"This redevelopment is a key to expanding the Orange Door Business Network and providing more benefits to our most engaged alumni and friends - our life members," said Larry Shell, president of the OSU Alumni Association. "With more than 12,000 life members, we hope the network will become the first place Cowboy fans look for products and services, because we all like doing business with fellow Cowboys."

Businesses listed in Orange Door are advertised by the Alumni Association in a variety of locations. They are highlighted in the Alumni Association's OrangeBytes e-newsletter delivered monthly and on its website orangeconnection.org. The Alumni Association will also begin promoting new businesses added to Orange Door on its extensive Facebook pages and LinkedIn groups to provide even more publicity to the businesses owned and operated by life members.

"We have alumni in almost every sector of business, and tens of thousands of them are in a managerial role or higher," Shell says. "I would encourage our current life members to list their business now in the network, and I hope our annual members and those individuals looking to join will consider a life membership for this benefit and many more."

Alumni Association life membership dues are increasing on July 1, 2012, from $750/$1,000 for individual/joint memberships to $1,000/$1,500.
