Mud U is a fun, unique, and memorable muddy obstacle race for children and youth aged between 6 and 13. The concept of Mud U was derived from the adventure/obstacle events currently available to adults, but it has been specifically developed to provide kids with the same fun experience in a safe and age-appropriate manner. Up to 1,000 are expected to participate in their next event on September 27 and 28 at Lake McMurtry in Stillwater. To learn how to register your child or to consider volunteering please visit the website www.muduniversity.org or follow updates at www.facebook.com/funinthefirstdegree.

For the majority of students who attend a university, education ends as soon as they graduate. But the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at OSU is changing that for senior citizens in our state. OLLI at OSU provides continuing education for seniors through enriching experiences inside and outside the classroom. Seniors are invited to participate in a variety of classes and other special programs targeted directly to their interests. OLLI at OSU is hosting classes at Epworth Villa, a retirement community in Oklahoma City, for the second year in a row to bring these experiences closer to home for residents and make the classes more accessible.
Meet the residents of Epworth Villa in Oklahoma City and you’ll find they share a belief in sound planning. It’s the reason they were successful in life and it’s the key to their retirement security. Epworth Villa’s Life Care financial option is often the deciding factor. “Coming to Epworth Villa under the Life Care option gave my wife and me peace of mind. That was the biggest reason we moved,” says resident Walt Thoni. “Also, our kids won’t ever have to worry about our financial and living situation for the rest of our lives. Family considerations were a big part of the decision.” The Epworth Living family is growing in Stillwater with construction on The Ranch scheduled to begin next year. The Ranch will be Stillwater’s first complete retirement community and will offer independent living apartments and cottages, as well as top-quality health care services, on-site assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care. If you would like to see what life at The Ranch will be like, the next information meetings will be held on August 15th and August 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center. Please RSVP to 405.743.2990. To say that Lou and former Congressman Wes Watkins love Stillwater would be an understatement. This city is where they met more than fifty years ago and where both attended college. Although they have enjoyed their home over the past 22 years, they did not anticipate the upkeep and responsibilities of being homeowners during retirement. But now they've found a comprehensive retirement program in their own backyard.
