Class of 1970

In the past year we have enjoyed the experience of two grandsons become 2LT Army officers from Clemson University and Pittburg State University. We have one son who retired as a Colonel (26 years) and another son is serving as a Major Chaplain officer in the Kansas National Guard. Both sons entered the Army from Pittsburg State University. All this would be even better if some all had been OSU Cowboys. I cherish my fulltime on campus at OSU in 1969 with an EDD granted me in 1970. Claire and I are in our 10th year living at Maranatha Village in Springfield, MO. Thanks for the opportunity to share.

After 47 years as a pediatrician, I retired in April 2012. Both my wife, Lynda Hansen Johnson and myself, graduated from OSU in May 1961. Since then I have gone to medical school at OU (Boo, had a 29 year Navy career, worked in college health as Medical Director of the Student Health Center at The American University, Washington DC, Stephen F. Austin State University, and the University of Texas at Austin before embarking on a 14 year stint as a private practice pediatrician in Harker Heights, TX.

In retirement I have gone back to fishing, and woodworking. I am trying to learn all the things I have forgotten about both while I was practicing pediatric medicine.

WE are both enjoying my retirement. It is fortunate that we were able to travel as much as we did, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Greece and Egypt plus the Baltic states prior to my being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Travel has slowed considerably since then.

We have 3 children, Jeff, Kristina and Johanna. All are married and college educated. We have 5 grandchildren, ranging in age from 18 to 5 years.

This is for my husband, Bruce. He was named a Piper professor in May, 2013. The link is to the article the college published about the award. I am very proud of him.

He has received many awards for teaching, including being named a Regents professor in the Texas A&M System last year.
